The Golden Child Fund

Matthew Brooks Osterhoudt was an amazing potential filled young man. His family affectionately called him “The Golden Child” because he was such a great kid, he never lost that nickname. Matthew was a phenomenal auto mechanic who loved to ride dirt

bikes and ATV’s. Even through Matthew’s addiction, recovery and relapse, he was always the loving and caring person that God intended him to be.

The evening of January 20th in 2019, Matthew’s mom found him in his bathroom. Narcan and CPR couldn’t revive him. Matthew died 5 days after his 22nd birthday. The Golden Child had been called home.

As Matthew’s mom, I was focused on doing everything I could to keep my son alive, so when the tragedy happened, I was not prepared mentally or financially. Fortunately, I had received the overwhelming support from the community. I didn’t have to worry about the financial burden along with the emotional distress. As happens more often families are not so fortunate. That’s the principle reason Matt’s Movement, Inc. created the Golden Child Fund.

The Golden Child Fund’s goal is to alleviate some of the financial burden of an unimaginable result of the opioid epidemic. With donations from the community and fundraising efforts hosted by Matt’s Movement, Inc. We will be able to aid financially burdened families with the cost of funeral arrangements.  The local funeral home and other businesses were an immeasurable part of the community support we received during that devastating time.

Matthew’s family and Matt’s Movement Inc., along with your help, want to pay it forward.  With donations from caring supports like yourselves, we can make a difference. All donations of any size are appreciated and will go a long way if comforting a family during difficult time as this.

Blessings,

Patricia Osterhoudt - Matt’s Mom
